AHSN NENC funded Postgraduate Certificate open to applications

In 2019/20 the University of Sunderland launched a new Postgraduate Certificate in Patient Safety and Quality Improvement (developing leadership, capability and competence), this course was commissioned by the AHSN NENC and we are delighted with the very positive feedback from the first cohort of students.

As part of our ongoing work to increase the quality improvement capacity and capability within the North East and North Cumbria the AHSN has agreed to fund 50% of tuition fees for a new intake of students from the North East and North Cumbria region to undertake this accredited programme at one of the world’s leading universities. (There is also the possibility that employing NHS organisations can access the remaining 50% of funding through a matched funding budget held by the university, students should contact the university directly about this.)

Due to the ongoing pandemic the format of the course has been revised and updated to ensure that all the taught content can be delivered virtually if necessary, although we are hoping that there will be an opportunity to return to some face to face learning during the course of the programme. The University have also improved the access to online support so that students can interact with each other and lecturers in virtual study spaces and to ensure that library and other resources are easily available remotely. A summary of the programme is attached.

This course is being run by the University of Sunderland in collaboration with the Academic Health Science Network for the North East and North Cumbria and will commence on Tuesday 18th May 2021.

All queries should be directed to the project leads Ruth James ([email protected]) or, Julia Wood ([email protected])

The deadline for applications is lunchtime, Friday 19th March 2021.
