The AHSN Network’s equality, diversity and inclusivity pledges

In September 2019, the AHSN Network signed up to a series of pledges, demonstrating our national commitment to the diversity and inclusion agenda.

The AHSN Network pledges include committing to:

  • Implementing a recognised process to self-assess and improve equality performance in each of our organisations
  • Empowering and supporting staff to be positive role models for equality and diversity
  • Understanding the impact of our work on all members of our communities and ensuring our work reflects the equality and diversity within these communities.

The AHSN’s role in driving sustainability

The AHSN Network is unique in working with industry, academia and the health and care system in local, regional and national settings. We are perfectly positioned to support the drive for environmental sustainability at every stage and every level and support the development and uptake of innovations that support this crucial agenda.

In 2020 we started an AHSN Network Environmental Sustainability Community of Interest, which brings together members from across the Network to share best practice and collectively work to solve common issues. We are also working on a shared strategy to ensure we maintain momentum and can hold ourselves to account.

Armed Forces Covenant

The Armed Forces Covenant is the nation’s commitment to those who proudly protect our nation.

It is a pledge that together we acknowledge and understand that those who serve or who have served in the armed forces, and their families, should be treated with fairness and respect in the communities, economy and society they serve with their lives.

The AHSN NENC has pledged its support to and signed The Armed Forces Covenant. As an organisation, we truly believe that both we and those who serve or who have served in the armed forces mutually benefit from the potential opportunities of employing a reservist or ex-serving military personnel may bring.

Defence Employer Recognition Scheme

On the 11th of August 2021, we were delighted that the AHSN NENC was awarded the Bronze award in the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme.

Bronze award holders:

  • are self-nominated by employers who pledge to support the armed forces, including existing or prospective employees who are members of the community,
  • must have signed the Armed Forces Covenant,
  • promote being armed forces-friendly and are open to employing reservists, armed forces veterans (including the wounded, injured and sick), cadet instructors and military spouses/partners.
